Description

Choose to Reuse sponsored a contest among local students and professional graphic artists to design a logo for reusable bags. Over 300 entries were submitted in three age groups; 3-9; 10-18 and 19 and up. All art work was displayed at the Darien Nature Center and judged by a panel of 7 adults. The three winners came to the Nature Center and had their picture taken with then First Selectman Dave Campbell two weeks later. 1,000 bags in three different colors were subsequently ordered and printed with one of the three winning logos on each bag and either sold or given away over the course of the next several months.
The members of Choose to Reuse organized this part of our awareness/educational campaign with help from the Darien Public School System, The Darien Library, The Darien Sport Shop, the Darien Nature Center and Upper Crust Bagel and Cafe.
Financial support came from anonymous donors and The Green Village Initiative.
