Description

Farmyard

Farmyard offers our organically produced vegetables, herbs, fruits, and fresh eggs for sale on a 10 week subscription basis. This can also simply be called a CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture. All of our produce is grown using organic growing practices at our urban micro-farms located in Phoenix & Scottsdale, Arizona. With each subscription, our members receive a weekly Harvest Basket with a variety of our produce. This style of purchasing allows you the opportunity to try new types of produce each week and introduce you to eating what is in season locally.

These subscriptions not only give you the access to fresh local produce & eggs, but also the opportunity to support your local urban micro-farmers. Your subscription dollars provide us with some of the upfront costs of farming (such as seeds, organic soil amendments, equipment, etc.), and also allows us to sell to you directly as your personal farmers. Here on the farm, we are at the mercy of the Mother Nature. We all know that she can have a mind of her own at times. So, our subscription members must realize that they share in both the occasional risk as well as the delicious benefits of farming.

Sample Full Share for Spring/Summer 2011 Season:

1 pint Red, Yellow, and Black Cherry Tomatoes 2 Large Heirloom Tomatoes (We grow 20 varieties, and they maybe different each week) 1 bunch Sweet Genovese Basil 3 zucchini squash 4 Rosa Bianca eggplant 4 ears of sweet corn 1 bunch (6 stems) Red & Golden Swiss Chard 3 poblano chile peppers for stuffing 3 sweet Orange Sun bell peppers

Farmyard's Fresh Eggs

Our girls are fed certified organic feed of lay pellets, flax seed, cracked corn, and a variety of fruit and vegetable trimmings from our farms. Our eggs have creamy orange-yellow yolks, and when whipped the whitest whites! Our girls are pampered and their eggs show it! We keep a variety of breeds so each dozen eggs will be different colors of light brown, dark brown, white, blue, pink, and green. We sell them by the dozen ($5) or half dozen ($3), and can be added to your subscription.

Farmyard is an urban micro-farm at 40th St. & Indian School in Phoenix, AZ. We specialize in herbs, vegetables, and vegetable seedlings that are grown using organic growing practices in locally made compost. In most cases, all of our seeds are certified organic and open pollinated heirloom varieties. Our transplants are available for pre-order on our website so we can grow them just for you for your next gardening season. We currently sell our produce and eggs through our small CSA, please visit our website at www.myfarmyard.com for details. We also make salad dressings that use Arizona Honey, Queen Creek Olive Oil, and our herbs grown on property.

We specialize in installing and maintaining edible gardens at private residences and for businesses.
