Shareholders can choose to receive their share in roving or yarn, and may choose from a range of hand dyed colors. Shareholders can also receive a discount on handmade items. We will ship via PO/UPS/Fedex for the shipping cost + $5. Yarn is light! Let it come to you.

We specialize in home-grown exotic fibers - mohair, alpaca and cashmere, and create original hand-made fiber goods. Our Angora goats, Cashmere goats, Alpacas, and sheep provide us with the luxurious fibers we turn into roving, yarns and exotic yarn blends that are great for fiber crafts, or folks can purchase high quality, one-of-a-kind-made-on-the-farm heirloom blankets, rugs, shawls, scarves and other items. Since we're close to Cornell we work with the Cornell Vet School, and Cooperative Extension to improve our farming and animal husbandry and increase the vet school students' knowledge of these wonderful animals. We are interested in expanding our farm tours, raising a heritage sheep breed such as hog island, or hebridean or soay; working with apprentices and interns; and in sustainable practices for raising fiber animals such as rotational grazing.

We are a 50 acre farm located in Ithaca, NY at the southern gateway to the spectacular Finger Lakes region.  Home to world renowned Cornell University and Ithaca College, Ithaca is a cosmopolitan and dynamic community.  Our farm is atop West Hill, a short four mile ride from town.

At Laughing Goat Fiber Farm, we care for some of the sweetest animals on the planet.  Shadow, Tiger, Hazel, Ernie and Bert, Fabio, and others are almost part of the family ... sometimes they seem to take precedence over everything and everybody else!  We raise Angora and Cashmere goats as well as sheep and alpaca, all for the harvest of their exotic fiber.

At the farm house, Lisa has a loom room where she produces an array of original, hand-crafted products, made from our own high-quality yarns.

We are committed to sustainable local agriculture.  We have enrolled our farm property in a dedicated agricultural farm easement, ensuring that Laughing Goat Fiber will forever be used for farming purposes.  We support organic farming and encourage you to support your local and organic farmers wherever you are.

We love to have visitors and are easily accessible from downtown Ithaca.  If you're interested to see our finished products first hand, or want to see how we grow and harvest beautiful fibers from these wonderful animals, please call or email and we'll arrange a time.
