Description
In an effort to combat the increasing trend of obesity and diabetes in the lower Rio Grande Valley, the Brownsville Farmers' Market was created to provide local residents with a place to find fresh, affordable, locally grown produce. Currently there are 20 booths selling in-season vegetables and fruits, farm-fresh eggs, honey, home-made breads and jams, fresh-caught Gulf shrimp, and herbs. Community organizations, health-related entities, non-profit agencies and state and federal agencies also participate by distributing information, organizing children's activities or promoting awareness of their agency.
Market Schedule: 9:00 AM to Noon every Saturday from October to May
Location: Linear Park, E. 7th Street and Harrison, Brownsville, Texas
