Description

The Sitka Farmers Market is a public market established to provide the community of Sitka access to locally grown and harvested foods. Additional goals of the market are to provide a venue for education, entertainment, and building personal relationships for a healthier community. The first three Sitka Farmers Markets were held in August of 2008. This year, 2009, the SItka Local Foods Network is growing the markets, with the first market being held on July 18th and five more following every other Saturday. Many local gardens have been started or expanded to provide the markets with fresh produce.

When and Where: July-September, Held at the ANB Hall, 235 Katlian Street on Saturdays: July 18, August 1, August 15, August 29, and September 12. Open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. An additional harvest celebration market will be held on September 26th at the Crescent Harbor shelter along with the annual Running of the Boots.
