Description
This initiative has certified 42 businesses under its Bright Green Business Program (list of businesses can be found on our website at: http://www.nisbc.org/what-is-the-nisbc/our-members/ This program was originally started under the City of Fort Wayne, called the Green City Business program. In 2010, local businesses, non-profits and local government wanted the program to expand regionally to help more businesses become sustainable, so the NISBC was created. Right now the NISBC is reaching out to the following Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley. We are hoping to hold Bright Green Business trainings in each county, further helping our region become more sustainable. What we need is for more businesses to adopt the sustainable philosophy to capitalize on the benefits. Some benefits include lower costs in energy and other utilities, improved public image, happier/healthier employees, etc.
