Proper Disposal of Pharmaceuticals
Category: Water
Initiative Objective:
Initiative Objective
Pharmaceuticals enter the environment through may ways including human and animal waste and improper disposal of pharmaceuticals down sinks and toilets. Most wastewater treatment plants are not able to remove the majority of pharmaceuticals from the water, leaving them in our water supply.
Unused and unwanted pharmaceuticals should be disposed of properly. Many pharmacies will accept unused pharmaceuticals from the patients who have purchased them. Many towns have a household hazardous waste collection facility or event. Some towns have a drug disposal drop box.
