Description
Volunteers, Sponsors and Residents, you did it!! This was our most successful cleanup effort to date, with over 153 volunteers making it out despite the torrential rain the night before and more rain in the forecast for the cleanup day. Together we cut up and removed 9 fallen tress blocking the flow of the stream, over a Forty Yard dumpsters worth of trash and debris (326 trash bags) as well as 3.5 tons of metal, which included 33 shopping carts, 22 tires, 4 bicycles, 4 cubicle walls, 3 car batteries, 2 computer monitors, 1 refrigerator, 1 freezer, 1 stove, 1 riding lawnmower, 1 TV and a weathervane.
Our efforts have not only made a huge impact on the appearance of Historic Bread and Cheese Creek in the North Point Area we have also taken another step toward restoring the environmental health of the Back River Watershed and the Chesapeake Bay. None of this could have been accomplished without the hard work of all our volunteers and our generous supporters
