Town-wide Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan

Category: Transportation

Initiative Objective:

Initiative Objective

The Town of Fairfield will become a bicycle and pedestrian-friendly community by actively promoting walking and bicycling for transportation, recreation and exercise and as a means to conserve energy, improve air quality, reduce traffic and the need for parking, as well as improving health and fitness of people in the community. We will accomplish this by establishing a town-wide system of sidewalks and bicycle paths which are safe and convenient and which connect residential areas with public, private, educational, commercial and open space areas. We will also educate our residents regarding car, bike and pedestrian safety rules so that all residents can share the road confidently.
