Summary: FOREST....FOUNDING MEMBER OF FOREST..1989...FAMILIES OPPOSED TO RUINING ENVIRONMENTAL STATE TREASURES...A small group formed this, 7 people started in this.. and we were able to save 260 acres from being turned into a golf course...It was almost a done deal,,the mayor wanted it named after him, and put a notice in mailbox a week before christmas...He held a meeting at our local school, only a handful of people showed up...those of us who did were passionate about saving this area..I used to swim in the pond...it took two years, but we did it....We saved 260 acres..so kids can still canoe and fish...we cleaned up tons of trash...and I believe the earth is our biggest treasure and we all have to care for it...When I asked some of the people to join us in the cleanup of this beautiful area, a few replied to me with this answer.... why, we won't be around anyway...I said...do you have children or grandchildren...don't you think they should be able to go to lakes and oceans and swim..
