1000 Friends of Connecticut, Executive Director
Originally hailing from northeast Ohio, Nichole spent a significant part of her childhood and adolescence swimming in, boating on, and generally enjoying life near Lake Erie. Her appreciation for the environment and its natural resources quickly expanded into a greater humanitarian interest. A desire to bring about social change while protecting the great outdoors she had grown to love ultimately motivated her to focus her academics on issues that integrated environmental justice, human rights, and social equity.
In 2007, she received a full, four-year scholarship to Trinity College from QuestBridge, a non-profit which connects motivated students from underserved backgrounds to institutions of higher education. She graduated from Trinity College with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy and Law, focusing on two concentrations: environmental policy and law in society. Nichole interned with the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) in the spring of 2010 and also served as CTLCV's Program Associate until the summer of 2011. Driven to 1000 Friends' mission after attending the organization's third annual conference, Nichole began working as part-time staff in May 2010 and enthusiastically accepted the position as Executive Director after graduating from Trinity College. Nichole is also a member of Trinity College's Long Walks Society and the Quest Scholar Alumni Network.
